How to introduce the activity to my child?

Suspend it from a baby playgym, and this can be used as a tactile mobile too encouraging the child to experience the tactile world around them while honing their motor skills, concentration, and hand-eye coordination.

Once the baby discovers his/her hands and starts to figure out how they work, a world of learning awaits them. By the age of 6-8 months, the baby will develop enough hand coordination, to be able to shift toys from one hand to another more easily. They learn to examine them as they transfer objects from hand to hand, turn them from side to side, and twist them upside down. At this point, the wooden clasping beads are perfect as the elasticity of the toy encourages the child to use both hands.

What will my child learn?

Your baby will enjoy rolling and twisting the beads, which will help in developing the child’s hand-eye coordination and finger grasp.

The beads can also be hung using a ribbon, above the child’s floor bed, from a mobile hanger or ceiling hook, so the child can grasp the beads which provides great tactile stimulation.

Wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, so keeping them clean is simple and you can even get your kids involved in the process. Here are some tips that can come handy while taking care of the wooden toys –

1. Wooden toys can be wiped with a dry cloth for daily maintenance and cleaning.
2. No Soaking. Never submerge wooden toys in the water; to clean or otherwise. The wood can soak up the water which can gradually lead to cracks.
3. Instead, a slightly damp cloth or sponge can be used to remove dirt or dust and then the toy should be air dried.
4. While drying the toys, do not leave them in a direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the colors to fade and long exposure to the sunlight and air might damage the wood.
5. Every once in a while, you may want to moisturize wooden toys when it starts to look dry or dull. Coconut oil or olive oil can be applied sparingly with a washcloth. Then let it dry.
