Montessori Primary Colors Mobile
Montessori Bell Chimes Mobile
Babies begin to perceive colors more between two and four months of age. The mobile introduces primary colors to the baby and serves as both visual and tactile mobile. The bright and contrasting colored wooden spinning discs attract the child and provide a sense of both visual and tactile stimulation.
Recommended age period
Usually introduced as a visual mobile when the baby is around two months old. Later, it is introduced as a tactile mobile, for reaching, grasping, batting, and holding around four months.
Intended space
It is intended to be hung above the baby’s movement area.
Line of vision
The mobile should be hanging above the baby’s chest, at a 30 cm/12 inch height when used as a visual mobile.
Tip
When placing your baby under a mobile, make sure that the baby is fully awake so that he/she can focus and observe the mobile.
What will my child learn?
The primary colors will attract your little one. This will aid in the development of the optic nerves and enhance cognitive skills without over-stimulating them.
When used as a tactile mobile the child is able to grasp/bat at the discs which hones the hand-eye coordination and concentration of the child as the child tries to reach for the discs.
It also strengthens the muscles in the eyes, neck, arms, and core.
What is included?
The mobile consists of three interlocked wooden discs painted in three primary colors (red, blue, yellow) that are hung from a wooden dowel. The design of the discs makes it easy for the child to grasp the discs.
What is it made of?
This beautiful mobile is made from Ivory wood and painted with non-toxic water-based child safe colors.

Care instructions
Wooden toys are beautiful and durable. Toys made of natural materials bring your little one a little closer to the nature by nourishing the child’s senses.
Wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, so keeping them clean is simple and you can even get your kids involved in the process. Here are some tips that can come handy while taking care of the wooden toys –
- Wooden toys can be wiped with a dry cloth for daily maintenance and cleaning.
- No Soaking. Never submerge wooden toys in the water; to clean or otherwise. The wood can soak up the water which can gradually lead to cracks.
- Instead, a slightly damp cloth or sponge can be used to remove dirt or dust and then the toy should be air dried.
- While drying the toys, do not leave them in a direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the colours to fade and long exposure to the sunlight and air might damage the wood.
- Every once in a while, you may want to moisturize wooden toys when it starts to look dry or dull. Coconut oil or olive oil can be applied sparingly with a washcloth. Then let it dry.
Note
- During its lifetime, a tree is subjected to many natural forces that cause variations in wood grain, color, knots, splits, and stains. These variations are not defects. They enhance the beauty of the wood and add to the characteristic of the handcrafted toys making each toy unique.
- As with any baby toy or accessory, please use only under adult supervision.
- Always inspect for damage prior to use.
