Montessori Munari Mobile

High Contrast Visual Stimulation Newborn Cards – (Black, White & Red)
The Munari Mobile is the first in the series of Montessori Mobiles. As newborn babies see the world predominantly in black, white, and grey, to begin with, this first mobile is made from a series of simple, high-contrast black and white geometrical patterns and a clear plastic sphere that reflects light. The mobile gives the child the greatest contrast in shades, which helps in the development of visual sense and concentration.
Recommended age period
Usually introduced at birth and can be used as long as the child shows interest.
Intended space
It is intended to be hung above the baby’s movement area.
Line of vision
The mobile should be hung above the infant’s chest from a mobile hanger or ceiling hook, about 30cm distance from the child’s eyes. It is a visual mobile and not meant to be grasped.
Tip
When placing your baby under a mobile, make sure that the baby is fully awake so that he/she can focus and observe the mobile.
What will my child learn?
The newborn is unable to see color so the Munari Mobile is made of black and white geometrical patterns with a plastic sphere, to give the child the greatest contrast in shades, which helps the baby develop his ability to explore the world visually.
Bold black-and-white patterns stimulate the development of the optic nerves and encourage the child’s cognitive development without over-stimulating them. It develops their eyesight with just the right stimulus.
Along with strengthening the muscles in the eyes, it also helps the muscles in the neck, arms, and core, develop.
This mobile moves very slowly by natural air flow which allows the child to observe it with great concentration and focus improving dynamic visual tracking.
What is included?
In the box, you’ll find:
- One interlocking hanger
- Three monochrome wooden shapes
- Thread
- One plastic sphere
The different components are not assembled, because the wires become entangled in transport, but everything needed to assemble the mobile is included.
What is it made of?
This beautiful mobile is made from Birchply and painted with non-toxic water-based child safe colors.
For safety purposes, we have used a light weight plastic sphere instead of the traditional glass sphere.

Care instructions
Wooden toys are beautiful and durable. Toys made of natural materials bring your little one a little closer to the nature by nourishing the child’s senses.
Wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, so keeping them clean is simple and you can even get your kids involved in the process. Here are some tips that can come handy while taking care of the wooden toys –
- Wooden toys can be wiped with a dry cloth for daily maintenance and cleaning.
- No Soaking. Never submerge wooden toys in the water; to clean or otherwise. The wood can soak up the water which can gradually lead to cracks.
- Instead, a slightly damp cloth or sponge can be used to remove dirt or dust and then the toy should be air dried.
- While drying the toys, do not leave them in a direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the colors to fade and long exposure to the sunlight and air might damage the wood.
- Every once in a while, you may want to moisturize wooden toys when it starts to look dry or dull. Coconut oil or olive oil can be applied sparingly with a washcloth. Then let it dry.
Note
- During its lifetime, a tree is subjected to many natural forces that cause variations in wood grain, color, knots, splits, and stains. These variations are not defects. They enhance the beauty of the wood and add to the characteristic of the handcrafted toys making each toy unique.
- As with any baby toy or accessory, please use only under adult supervision.
- Always inspect for damage prior to use.
