Wooden Crochet Ring
Rolling Bell Cylinder
When your baby is first born, they have a reflexive grip. This grasp reflex — also called the palmar grasp reflex — is an involuntary response. That means your baby isn’t controlling it and will hold anything you give them in the same way. Over the next year, as your baby’s brain develops, voluntary movements replace involuntary reflexes. Instead of reacting instinctively, the baby will begin to think about what they want to do and develop a mastery of how to operate their hands.
The wooden ring is one of the best toys to support your baby’s development in this area. It allows babies to explore multiple textures, stimulating their tactile sense. While supporting sensory development, it also improves comprehension skills.
Recommended age period
1 month and above.
How to introduce the activity to my child?
This multipurpose toy provides the baby with plenty of opportunities to grasp and hold. By placing the ring in the child’s hand, one can stimulate the child’s grasping skills.
It can also be used as a tactile mobile by hanging it above the child with an elastic so that the child can grasp the ring and pull it, improving his hand-eye coordination and tracking skills.
It is also an essential teething toy.
What will my child learn?
Playing with the wooden ring encourages the development of more voluntary movements and coordination in your little one, as she/he tries to it from one hand to the other.
As your baby tries to bring the ring to their mouth, the baby is also improving their hand-eye coordination, concentration, grasping, and exploring skills.
This learning toy allows your baby to develop their fine motor skills, aid wrist movement and support the use of their hands.
Babies develop their gross motor skills when they extend their arms or try to crawl and reach for the ring.

Care instructions
Wooden toys are beautiful and durable. Toys made of natural materials bring your little one a little closer to the nature by nourishing the child’s senses.
Wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, so keeping them clean is simple and you can even get your kids involved in the process. Here are some tips that can come handy while taking care of the wooden toys –
- Wooden toys can be wiped with a dry cloth for daily maintenance and cleaning.
- No Soaking. Never submerge wooden toys in the water; to clean or otherwise. The wood can soak up the water which can gradually lead to cracks.
- Instead, a slightly damp cloth or sponge can be used to remove dirt or dust and then the toy should be air dried.
- While drying the toys, do not leave them in a direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the colors to fade and long exposure to the sunlight and air might damage the wood.
- Every once in a while, you may want to moisturize wooden toys when it starts to look dry or dull. Coconut oil or olive oil can be applied sparingly with a washcloth. Then let it dry.
Note
- During its lifetime, a tree is subjected to many natural forces that cause variations in wood grain, color, knots, splits, and stains. These variations are not defects. They enhance the beauty of the wood and add to the characteristic of the handcrafted toys making each toy unique.
- As with any baby toy or accessory, please use only under adult supervision.
- Always inspect for damage prior to use.
